When you are servicing your vehicle, have you see the mechanic take a small vacuum pump to suck the oil engine? Where they actually place the used lubricant oil? Is that place in a drum, or dump it easily? All that question or more should play in our mind..
If you search on wikipedia, it mention about the function of lubricant oil and it can be summarize as follow:
1) Is an oil used for lubrication of various internal combustion engine
2) Motor oil also cleans
3) inhibits corrosion
4) improves sealing
5)Cool the engine by carrying heat away from the moving parts.
Most of engine oil are produce from derived petroleum which contain of hydrocarbon.
Us EPA has define engine oil must be managed under hazardous waste when it is disposed of. So that, by spilling it to the environment, it can pose threat to us.
Have you heard about additives that have been used to the used engine oil? For your knowledge, the additives is meant for changing the value of it viscosity so that, it suit to standard lubricating oil. The value that determine by SAE for good lubricating oil is between 40 to 400 according to their Viscosity Index.
By inventing additives for lubricant oil, we should make money and actually we are saving our environment.
But if no additives will used, we will damage our engine, and damage our air by releasing excessive smoke, and you know what is inside the smoke.

GM food
It sound technologies, but many people are worried about the upcoming impact.
For those who are new, GM is stand for "Genetic Modified" where the food engineering
technologies is heavy debated in West. GM food were in the market in 1990 where the genetic of
tomato's were modified to stand rot. It's sound good.
After that, the soybean plant were announced succeed in its genetic modification which the plant
able to stand pesticed. People who in "mass balance" came to woried because a question is
actually appeared "where the poison goes?".
For me the plant is actually still holding certain amount of poison, but the only thing is that, the
modified plant had increase its retention time or maybe increase its poison storage.
From my point of view, the food technologies is good only in certain term. For an example, rice
were found rich in betacarotine is good. It will decrease daily cost of buying food because
term"richness of health" in one food is appeared.
The researchers of food technologies have intrested to this area because, they assumed that food
crisis can be solved in future. The pricipal were very easy, "less disease to plant, more food can
be generated and stored" but for me it is some time will go wrong if the technology disobey
human of nature.

Cancer and Air Pollution.
When I pass by GAB (Guinness Anchor Berhad) at Jalan Kelang Lama (when I was on the way to
my workplace), I just smell an unusual odor that release from the facotry. It smell bad, and I
just wonder how they tackle public complaint which raise from the resident. (Because my
branch work is to handle this kind of problem, and it is difficult instead).
I heard from some sources that the GAB supporting the environment NGO in PJ.
At the same time, I also thinking effects of air release from the factory to people and
environment.
A lot of thing which determine by expert may cause cancer problem such as below:
1. Growing older
2. Tobacco
3. Sunlight
4. Ionizing radiation
5. Certain chemicals and other substances
6. Some viruses and bacteria
7. Certain hormones
8. Family history of cancer
9. Alcohol
10. Poor diet, lack of physical activity, or being overweight
And air pollution is actually more related to lung cancer. People who lives in industrial area is
actaully having more potential to it. A study which made around England and Wales concluded
that getting lung cancer is about one and a half times greater for people living in industrial
areas compared to those living in the country.
And when compared to those who breath around beer factory and those who taking it as a
drink, smell it is only categorised as RISK. While taking alcohol as a drink, there is big
potential to lung cancer instead. Although, alcohols is a part of vaporise substances, expert say
it is very minimal and surely not as a major causes when it is came into breath.
Of course I feel better to know about it (because that is only route that I have to pass by
everyday), but how the company tackled public complaint is a big question mark. The factory
just situated less than 30 meter from residential area.
